Pattern Testing: Peek-A-Boo Celebrates 50K members!
I have been sewing Peek-A-Boo patterns for over seven years! This was well before sewing groups as a platform exploded in popularity on Facebook. Over the past couple of weeks, Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop’s Facebook group reached 50,000 members! Congratulations to Amy and crew! To celebrate, she is offering her newest pattern release, the Brighton Beanie, for only 50 cents (USD) through the end of weekend 29/9/19! You can find the coupon code in the Facebook group.

I was a pattern tester and I don’t think you can find anything easier sew! This pattern is specifically for light to medium weight knits, and with a little help with a walking foot this would also make a great project for children learning to sew. There are three views to this pattern: Standard, Slouchy, and then an “in-between” that is drafted to allow a band to fold up so you could wear it like the standard view and have an accent band, or wear it flipped down and it will have a slouchy styling. Further, each view can than also be constructed seamless or with a seamed bottom for directional prints or if you want to make the hat reversible with an accent fabric.
More sizes were added during testing so the pattern includes a wide ranging from newborn to adult large!
When I saw the beanie, I immediately had an idea to do a photo shoot with my daughter and her friend with a retro roller skate vibe. I paired the beanie with the knee high view of Peek-A-Boo’s Cozy Critter Socks for the look. PAB also has the socks in adult sizing so you too can up your street cred.
I had already taken these photos when Amy realized that the best way to get even more slouchiness was to specify that a lighter fabric needed to be used. I feel it is worth mentioning as these amazing hats could have even more delicious slouch. But I’m digging the vibe of the look.
The pastel stripe hat is View C, while the dark/midnight stripe is View B. You will see in the other photos I used a coordinating pink fabric for the inner to provide a nice contrast when I have the “band” flipped up. I then used a reverse coverstitch to provide an accent stitch for the top stitching.
Because I couldn’t choose just one photo (the girls had a great time), I’ve left them until the end!
